iGive Turns Transactions into Donations

Thanks to hundreds of thousands of people using iGive.com and the iGive Button, everyday purchases are turning into donations for tens of thousands of charities.  iGive.com was founded in 1997 with the philosophy that shopping for the things you need can make the world a better place.  Since then, millions of dollars have been donated to members’ favorite charities — big and small – completely funded by the stores.

Donations are made fast and easy by the iGive Button.  Shoppers add this tiny bit of technology to their Internet Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Safari) by downloading it from iGive.   From then on, purchases at any of the more than 950 online stores are automatically tagged so that the member’s favorite cause earns a donation.  The Button, a browser add-on, provides a seamless experience for the shopper.  Members shop online, and behind the scenes, stores and iGive work together to make sure each member’s favorite cause can get a donation every time a purchase is made.

“The desire of our member to help his/her favorite charity is the secret,” said Robert Grosshandler, Founder of iGive.com.  “With a great choice of stores and some pretty cool technologies, helping even the smallest charity is easy.”

More than 1,400 leading merchants partner with iGive to help consumers’ favorite charities, big and small, including animal shelters, schools, churches, disease research groups, social outreach efforts, classrooms, kids’ teams, local PTA, arts organizations, and other organizations dedicated to doing good. Causes are not required to have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, so members can add their favorite cause to easily reap the rewards of their online shopping. iGive.com’s network currently already has more than 44,000 causes.

“We love iGive because it gives our supporters a simple way to raise money by doing something they were already planning on doing – shopping online or searching the internet,” said Chloe Grabanski, Supporter of Florida-based charity, To Write Love on Her Arms.
